Alan Molina

First Violin

Alan has been a first violinist with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra since 2017.

Alan began his violin studies at the age of three, initially under Betty Haag-Kuhnke and later with Cyrus Forough. He completed a bachelor's degree in violin performance at Indiana University, where he was a student and teaching assistant to Mauricio Fuks.

Alan earned a master's degree in chamber music at the San Francisco Conservatory, where he performed with acclaimed artists such as Menahem Pressler, Jorja Fleezanis, and Gilbert Kalish. Following this, he spent two seasons with the New World Symphony under Michael Tilson Thomas's leadership.

Before moving to New Zealand from the USA, Alan was Principal Second Violin with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra.
