Amy Brookman
Second Violin, Associate Principal

Born in Queensland, Australia, Amy earned a Bachelor of Music in 2009 and a Master of Music Studies in 2010 from the Queensland Conservatorium.
She continued her studies at the Australian National Academy of Music, graduating in 2014 under the guidance of Adam Chalabi and Dr Robin Wilson.
A passionate advocate for chamber music, Amy is a founding member of Melbourne's Penny Quartet. In 2014, she was nominated for the Freedman Classical Fellowship and received the John and Rosemary Macleod Travelling Fellowship.
Throughout her career, Amy has worked extensively with the Melbourne, Queensland, and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, as well as the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra and the Australian Chamber Orchestra. As a soloist, she has performed with the Canberra International Music Festival and with the ACO Collective, of which she is a current member.
In 2019, Amy moved to Wellington to take on her new role as Associate Principal Second Violin with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, and she couldn't be happier!
Outside of playing music you can find me swimming, gardening, cooking and spending time with Whānau.
