Supported by The Cranfylde Charitable Trust
Born and raised in Wellington, Megan graduated from Victoria University with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree in 2002.
By age twenty-two, Megan completed her Master's Degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, studying under Ian Swensen. During her time there, she received Departmental Honours for String and Piano Chamber Music.
In 2005, she secured a position with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra in South Carolina, eventually serving as Associate Concertmaster for three years. While in South Carolina, Megan also played violin for Chamber Music Charleston.
Before heading overseas in 2003, Megan held a contract with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. With much excitement and anticipation, she returned to New Zealand in 2012 to join the second violin section of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra as a permanent member.
In 2017 her husband, Alan, secured a permanent position in the first violin section. When they aren’t playing in the orchestra, the couple stays busy raising their three young children, who have joined them on many NZSO tours as little groupies, getting to know various nannies throughout the country.
I feel so lucky to be able to bring a variety of music to people all over the country. From Kerikeri to Invercargill, each hall and town has its own quirks and charms.
