The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra (NZSO) is the country’s national professional orchestra and one of the few touring orchestras in the world, visiting many cities and towns around New Zealand every season.

Through a range of education and community engagement initiatives, the NZSO is committed to providing opportunities for people from all over New Zealand to learn about and engage with their national symphony orchestra.


The Education & Community Engagement Coordinator will take responsibility for a large number of projects in the education and community engagement portfolio.

Key aspects of the role include  application processing, coordinating meetings, maintaining databases, updating event systems, liaising with musicians, NZSO departments and music institutions, and supporting concerts and the delivery of projects.

This is a full-time appointment, commencing in late May 2025.

Person Profile:

  • Administration, coordination, and project management experience

  • A background in music and music education (preferably orchestral)

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to produce high quality written material

  • Highly motivated, proactive, and self-sufficient

  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship skills at all levels

  • Flexible, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • A high level of attention to detail
