The Firebird and Other Music Adventures
Schools’ Concerts
Join the NZSO, conductor James Judd and NZSO guest educator Rachel Leach for one of Stravinsky’s great masterpieces – The Firebird.
Rachel will explore the story and explain how Stravinsky uses the orchestra to bring the tale to life.
This story has it all – magical Firebird, evil King, dashing Prince and not 1, not 2, but 13 princesses! There are lots of opportunities to join in, including a specially composed song. Alongside The Firebird, we’ll also hear a ghostly tale from Manuel de Falla’s Ritual Fire Dance and a new work by New Zealand composer Sai Natarajan, We Long for Adventure.
